The current COVID-19 outbreak has had a detrimental impact on the mental health of many young people across the country – with many unable to see their friends, and take part in the usual social activities which they are used to enjoying.

MK Mind have been looking at creative ways which we can address this and bring fun Social Activities back to young people, and we are happy to share that the National Lottery Community Fund and Kent County Council have helped to fund one such way we intend to do this – with our Virtual Youth Cinema.

Many young people are used to going out with their friends on a Friday night – so it is our hope that this service will help to provide people with a return to that normality in many regards.

The cinema will stream on a Friday night from 5pm – 7pm, and will feature some of the latest Blockbusters for Young People to enjoy. Movies we have licensed include Jumanji 2 and Birds of Prey to name just a few – so young people will get to enjoy the latest Cinema experiences from the comfort of home.

This service has been generously funded to support young people from anywhere in Kent – but it has been limited to 20 spaces due to the capacity we have available to facilitate this.

If you would like to book a space, then please e-mail xeniawest@mmkmind.org.uk

As part of this funding, Youth Recovery Action plans are also available to young people – providing them with access to tailored one-to-one support over the course of six weeks. Click here to learn more.

We are also offering a drop-in Youth Wellbeing Cafe on a Wednesday night. Click here to learn more.
