Now, more than ever before, Fundraising and Donations make a real difference to the work which charities can do.
This is no different for the work that Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind do. As a charity, the money which our supporters contribute to our work during this difficult time is essential in ensuring that our services are able to continue to be delivered without disruption. Ensuring everyone has mental health support during this difficult time is essential. With your support, we can make sure they do.
Below you’ll find a few ways you can get involved. If you have the time and want to support us, we’d love to work with you to help the people who need it most right now.
Get Involved in The 2.6 Challenge
The 2.6 Challenge is a simple way for people of all ages and abilities to help save the UK’s charities on Sunday 26 April. Your challenge could be as simple as pledging to run 2.6 miles as your daily exercise to doing 26 minutes of juggling non-stop. You can get creative, have fun whilst doing it, and crucially, you can make sure that your money is making a real difference to people who need help right now.

Virtual Fundraising Ideas
Our friends at National Mind have some fantastic fundraising ideas which you could use to fundraise for your local branch of Mind.
Virtual pub quiz
Use Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangouts to hold a virtual pub quiz. Set up a Total Giving page and ask your guests to make a donation to take part.
Virtual Physical Activity
Setup an online activity class through either Facebook Live, Instagram Live or another streaming platform and use it as an opportunity to fundraise by asking for a donation for your friends to attend. You can set up a Total Giving page to record how much you make.
Your exercise class can be anything – yoga, pilates, old-school aerobics, an exercise-bike session, or something else entirely!
Green fingers sweepstake
Choose your favourite plant and encourage your friends to sow seeds at the same time as you. Ask them for a donation, and over time you can watch your seeds change from seedlings into grown plants.
The gardener of the plant that bares its first fruit or flower wins half the sweepstake donation. Donate the other half to MMK Mind.
Ebay your clutter away
Now is a good opportunity to declutter, and working through your possessions is a chance to remember memories associated with them.
Sell your clutter on Ebay, or go to a website like Music Magpie, which will give you cash in return for your old CDs and DVDs. Donate the money you make to MMK Mind.
If you have a musical talent, take it online to a virtual gig through Facebook or Instagram live. Set up a Total Giving page so that those who join your gig can make a donation. Listening to live music is also a great way for others to take notice.
Share your skills with others through online tutorials. You could do cooking, a foreign language or flower arranging. Ask for a donation in exchange for sharing your skills, which can be donated on your Total Giving page.
Or does your friend have a skill that you have always wanted to learn? Ask them to set one up for you.
Virtual book club
Take your book club online or set up your own online book club. Donate the money that you would’ve spent on drinks and snacks to MMK Mind.
Creating a birthday fundraiser is a fantastic way to give back to a cause you’re passionate about on your special day. Staying at home and self-isolating mean social gatherings and parties are on hold, but you could ask them to donate to MMK Mind instead.
Coronavirus Swear Jar
Put £1 into the jar whenever you use the word “coronavirus” and donate the collection to MMK Mind.
Virgin Money Giving Donation Appeal
We’ve set up a Virgin Money Giving appeal so you can donate to our organisation quickly and easily.
Every pound donated goes back into supporting people in Kent who may be struggling right now.
Fundraise Whilst You Are Shopping At Home
A lot of us find ourselves shopping from home currently – so why not go that step further, and fundraise for your local Mental Health charity whilst you shop?
Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind are on Go Raise and Total Giving – giving you more options than ever before to support your local charity whilst you shop. Click the below images to learn more.
