It is with great sadness that Mid Kent Mind have to announce that after several continued years of providing a Garden Provision for our clients in Maidstone, LiveWell Kent have decided that the Holland Road Garden Group will not be renewed for delivery in the next batch of funding.
This means that from October of 2021, the Garden service will no longer operate from Holland Road – with a service being run by an alternate service provider instead. As soon as our staff have details on the new provision and where it will be made available, we will make sure that we share this information with clients who still wish to access outdoor therapy in the form of a Gardening Group or other outdoor activities.
We know that this decision will have a negative impact on the wellbeing of clients who have accessed this service for the extended period which it has run for, so we wanted to endeavour to offer you alternatives which you can access. Some of these are listed below.
Communigrow Sessions (Ditton)
Summarised by Communigrow as an ‘opportunity to support a community project, the environment; and also to meet new people, learn new skills and improve people’s wellbeing.’
Gardening with Shepway Chariots (Shepway – Maidstone Outskirts)
An opportunity to sow, dig and prune whilst meeting new people – with tea and coffee included.
Actively Involved (Involve Kent)
Involve Kent provide a variety of different services encouraging outdoor activities – including some themed around gardening.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of our gardening group. We are saddened that the service will not be continuing, but we are incredibly proud of the space which we have been able to transform together in the heart of Maidstone. We’ve shared a few photos from the garden below – and hope that you will enjoy looking back on some of the wonderful memories we were able to make in this space.
