If you were unaware, Maidstone and Mid Kent Mind have recently made the transition to Mid-Kent Mind, a name which better reflects our status as an organisation. You can find our press release on this change below:

Maidstone-based mental health charity Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind (MMKM) are set to undergo a rebrand at the end of July which will see the organisation transition into a new phase of life as Mid Kent Mind (MKM).

MKM’s mission within the community will be the same mission the organisation had during its function as MMKM, which is as follows:

We believe in recognising people as unique individuals, and not as a diagnosis or a label. We believe that empowerment is key in recovery and maintaining wellbeing. We work to promote social inclusion for people who experience mental health problems, and we strive to tackle stigma and discrimination through a number of projects designed to promote a better understanding of mental health.

These projects include a variety of different programmes, ranging from One-to-One support for adults and young people, to structured Mental Health Awareness courses which aim to provide people with free access to training so that they can increase their knowledge around mental health and be more supportive towards others.

The organisation hope that this rebrand will bring them closer to the communities that they represent – emphasising that the support they offer is not just available to people in Maidstone, but is available to anyone in Swale, Ashford and the surrounding communities, too.

Julie Blackmore, CEO for MKM said the following:

“Transitioning to Mid Kent Mind represents an exciting growth and expansion for our organisation. This rebrand, and the expansion which comes alongside it, shows that we have been able to grow and develop to a point where we are able to offer high-quality mental health support across a variety of different locations and to many different communities.

We are excited to continue to work closely with people all across Mid-Kent to develop and build new and meaningful relationships which promote better understanding and awareness of mental health.”

The Charity has already begun to rebrand across their Digital Platforms – with their social media accounts set to make the change later this month. A new website is also currently in development for the organisation – with the hope that the rebrand will be a platform for the organisation to continue to develop and expand their online presence.
