FREE YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING

FREE YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING, THANKS TO NATIONAL LOTTERY GRANT

Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind (MMKM) is offering free training courses on how to spot, and manage, mental health issues among young people, thanks to a National Lottery grant.

Says MMKM chief executive officer Julie Blackmore: “We’re delighted to be have won the grant, which enables us to offer this much-in-demand training, completely free.

These courses, which normally cost £300 per person, are aimed at anyone who works with, lives with, or supports young people aged eight to 18, specially in the workplace.

“They will highlight how to spot the signs of mental health issues, and what to do in terms of offering support and mental health first aid.”

Research shows that almost 15 percent of employees experience mental health problems, and almost 13 percent of absence on sick leave is attributable to mental health issues such as depression and stress.
