What we do

Maidstone & Mid Kent Mind deliver a ‘Work and Wellbeing lite’ course – a bespoke training course for individuals who are unemployed and experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and stress. The course runs for 6 weeks, starting with one 3 hr session in the first week, increasing with additional sessions throughout the 6 weeks.
The approach we take is person centred and includes 3 main elements: Cognitive Behavioural Coaching sessions, one to one reflective sessions using the ‘Recovery Action Plan’ and team building activities.

CBC sessions

The (CBC) Cognitive Behavioural Coaching sessions are aimed at helping people develop strategies for themselves, focus on personal barriers to unemployment, develop self-awareness, understand anxiety and depression and improve self-esteem.

Recovery Action Plan

A tool for supporting and measuring change. These one to one sessions encourage a hollistic look at individual wellbeing, plotting on a scale of 1 – 10 on the following 10 areas over a number of weeks:

  • Managing Mental Health
  • Life Skills
  • Physical Health and Self-care
  • Relationships
  • Social Networks
  • Aspirations
  • Employment/Volunteering/Training
  • Addictive/Challenging Behaviour
  • Responsibilities
  • Identity & Self-esteem

The Recovery Action Plan is tailored to support individuals to set their own goals within the 10 areas and take action to achieve better wellbeing.

Team and confidence building skills

To encourage creativity, improve decision making, increase confidence, understand goals, and build trust through developing positive relations. This will be delivered through group activities as part of a varied programme. These activities may include: arts and media, photography, walking/exercise, team games.
