Trustees Wanted In Herne Bay – an opportunity with the Herne Bay Umbrella Centre.

As part of our charitable mission, Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind look to help smaller organisations with capacity building where possible. We mainly focus on assisting smaller mental health organisations in the areas around us, so that they can build themselves up to a position where they can offer the best support possible for their area. One organisation we have recently worked alongside is the Umbrella Centre in Herne Bay.

This centre is a fantastic community hub which specialises in services for people with learning difficulties and mental health issues living in the Canterbury district with a particular focus on Herne Bay.

MMK Mind have been delivering new recovery based mental health services in partnership with the Umbrella centre to build its reach in recent months and this is something we envisage as being a long term collaboration.

As a small, Independent Charity, the Umbrella Centre of Herne Bay depend on their board of trustees to make decisions on the direction the organisation takes within the future. The charity are currently in a stage of transition as some of its long standing trustees look to move on to new challenges and some have unfortunately had to reduce their involvement due to outside pressures.

This means they are looking for anyone that would be interested in becoming a volunteer trustee on their committee. They are also currently transferring to become an incorporated Charity (CIO) to provide additional financial protection.

We would like to hear from anyone that has an interest in the field of mental health and can spare a small amount of time on a regular basis to be part of running a small but successful charity in Kent. If you are interested in the opportunity, and feel as though you have some skills and ideas that would be suited to this position please contact Jameswalker@mmkmind.org.uk for further details and a role description.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right people to get involved with a local charity in a beautiful part of Kent who are eager to grow and expand.
