Affordable Counselling Service Available at £20 per session.

What is counselling?

It is talking to a counsellor or trainee counsellor about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The aim is to give you a safe time and space to talk to someone who won’t judge you and can help you make sense of things and understand yourself better.

What can counselling help with?

Counselling can help you resolve complicated feelings, find ways to live with them or help you recognise unhelpful ways in which you think or behave and then find ways to change them. Here are some challenges that people may use counselling for:

  • Bereavement, losing your job or a relationship
  • Anxiety, stress and depression
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Difficult emotions e.g. guilt, sadness, confusion, low self esteem
  • Life experiences e.g. menopause, divorce, parenting, identity or sexuality

About our counselling service

Whilst some of our counsellors are fully qualified, a large number are on placement with us. This means they are trainees, in their final year of study for a recognised counselling qualification and registered with BACP. To qualify, they must complete 100 hours of counselling.

By enabling this service to be provided by counsellors on placement, we are able to offer an affordable rate of £20 per session. An initial telephone assessment is charged at £10 which will be added to your first weeks’ session.

Counselling sessions take place weekly and last 50 minutes; you are not limited to a set number of sessions. Your progress will be assessed regularly to ensure that sessions are meeting your needs and allowing you to move forwards on your journey.

Sessions are available throughout the week and take place at our Wellbeing Centre in Maidstone.

Who can access our counselling service?

Our service is for anyone aged 18+ who is registered with a GP and needs a low to medium level of support. We are unable to provide counselling to clients with a high level of need or who have specific requirements, for example: eating disorders, adoption, drug or alcohol addiction, history of severe trauma, high risk to self or others, personality disorders, psychotic illness or those who are already engaging with a counsellor in another service.
